Workshop destinado principalmente a Arquitectos y Diseñadores interesados en el aprendizaje del Diseño Computacional aplicado en la generación y racionalización de Geometrias Complejas para su implementación en distintos procesos del Diseño.Se abordaran los conceptos basicos y la metodologia para abordar problemas de diseño a traves del desarrollo de Herramientas Algorítmicas mediante un proceso de programacion visual.

Workshop Report 1. Guadalajara

Has been a while since the last time I wrote something here, I've been with a lot of work with school projects absorbing much of the time and beginning to develop personal projects about which I hope to share with you soon.

Well, now I would like to share with you the experience and some pictures of what was the first Workshop on parametricism I have given.

This event took place with the collaboration of my friend Farid, of  Id²ea, who supported us by providing facilities for the event, and with the support of Chido Studio, the design collective with whom I have been working recently and now this is working in Chile in a series of very interesting projects. Aye I would also like to thank Ayeritza F. Arechiga of FARA.Architectural Lab for support in logistics and administration of the event.

The event took place on 17 and 18 of September, having an excellent response and very interesting results in this moment I am working to put together an album with pictures of the projects developed by the participants, I hope soon to share with you.

The objective of the workshop was to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to enable them to develop a methodology to address various design processes by developing computational algorithms, supporting the visual programming environment Grasshopper.

During two intense days the students worked hard and the program was divided into 2 parts, the first segment, participants are guided along a series of exercises that help you understand the functionality of the software, the capabilities and limitations, and workflow to address various design issues with a new methodology.

In the 2nd block, participants formed teams to propose and develop different projects based on their personal interests; during this time the advice was carried out in a much more personal way, with each team working separately, to share developments at the end with the rest of the group to discuss and understand the logic established in each system.

Although the experience was quite exhausting, was also very rewarding, with very interesting results and proposals; I will like to thank participants to share this experience,it is for me a valuable learning.

Rhinoceros D-O-F Guadalajara

Objetivo: Dotar a los participantes con las herramientas y los principios teóricos y prácticos que les permitan comprender las funcionalidades de Rhinoceros y Grasshopper, y su potencial como euxiliares en el proceso de Diseño. Los participantes aprenderan a crear y editar con preisión Modelos 3D basados en Superficies Complejas NURBS.

A lo largo del Workshop se cubrirán la mayoría de las funcionalidades de Rhinoceros, incluyendo los comandos mas avanzados para creación y racionalización de superficies de Doble Curvatura.

A partir de esto se abordaran las funcionalidades de Grasshopper y sus ventajas para generar modelos paramétricos y generativos, no solamente desde el aspecto experimental, sino generando un enfoque practico, que permita transpolar los resultados en proyectos realistas llevándolos al nivel de la optimización del diseño para la Fabricación, mediante la implementación de esquemas de Fabricación Digital.

Interactive Babies Playground

Last weeks I spent my time in summer school, and even when it had a more traditional approach than what I have been publishing in this blog, I have to say that I found it really productive, and I liked a lot the final result of this course.

As part of this project I had the opportunity to collaborate with a great group of people, learned a lot from them, and had the opportunity to try some things maybe would never have tried on my own.
Special thanks to Marisa Lozano, Verónica Badillo and Isai Zavala for allowing me to share and learn from them.

And well, we therefore had to design and build a model of a recreational area, with total freedom to choose the user, age range, social status, and so on. So we decided to focus our work on the development of an area of early childhood stimulation.

One of the things I enjoy most about this project was the way we approach the formal exploration of it, it was a job for which only had 2 weeks and whose final requirement was a model of study, so that everything was giving a fairly interactive, defining the design issues while we were going to build the model.

The first formal exploration model we did in dough, working all at the same time, adding and removing parts, changing in a very intuitive way, very nice.

After defining the base surface I began the process of digitizing, for this we had to build a height map that would translate what we had fashioned by hand, data that could enter a computer model that enables the implementation of a scheme digital fabrication in order to hasten the development of the model.

Although the process might seem a bit rudimentary, actually generated the needed data to develop from them a computer model that respects the characteristics of the original physical model.

Arquitectura de Proceso Digital

As i commented last week, i took part of a workshop about generative design as part of the creative process. with Andres Arias Madrid and Jose Ramon Tramoyeres from GGLab as Visiting Professors at Centro Universitario de Arte, Arquitectura y Diseño.

i had the pleasure of sharing this project with Carlos Chenge Said, Pablo Lascurain, Martin Garcia Alvarez and Abraham Yaffer Cisneros, Architecture Students at CUAAD, a great working team, and overcoat great people.

Here's the final result of that long, tired, difficult but productive and exiting week. hope you like it

This week i'm participating in a really interesting Workshop "Arquitectura de Proceso Digital" with Andrés Arias and José Ramón Tramoyeres of GGlab, implementing Parametrical Design as a part of the creative process, the images bellow have been generated implementing a script developed by Andrés and José on a Grasshopper definition to Generate "Electric Fields".
